Hotels with Bars Overview

Most of the modern day hotels are well equipped with various amenities such as swimming pool, restaurant, gym, bar etc. Hotels that usually have a restaurant also have a bar. Almost all the hotels of major cities that have a restaurant also have a bar. These bars are well stocked with major labels. Their liquor collection boasts of Indian as well as many foreign brands. The rates of the drinks depend upon the hotel. A well reputed hotel would have the costs on a higher side as compared to others. Also, the cost of a drink of a foreign brand would be more costly as compared to that of Indian brand. Bars also offer beverages and snacks that would complement the drinks offered by them.

Few Points to know about Bars-

  • Many bars have designated time in which they give their customers added benefits such as giving 2 drinks at the cost of one. This strategy is called Happy Hours. The bars often adapt this strategy during off peak timings. During happy hours, the bars not only see a peak in liquor orders but also in food orders.
  • Bars may or may not have bouncers to keep the crowd in control. Since consuming alcohol affects one’s motor skills, people may get unruly. To keep such people in check, bouncers are hired.
  • Bars that are situated in the hotel also have a Disc Jockey or a singer to entertain the people sitting. These performers usually perform during peak hours and keep the crowd entertained.
  • Hotels that have a restaurant can also serve liquor in the restaurant itself if they don’t have a dedicated bar. These hotels can also serve liquor in the rooms itself at the request of the customers.
  • The bars serve almost all types of liquor- whiskey, scotch, vodka, rum, beer, wine etc. The rates of these drinks differ from drink to drink.
  • A normal peg usually has 30 ML of liquor. But this value may also vary between 60,120 and 180. The peg can be then served with a soft drink or with carbonated water (Soda).
  • Bars usually have a smoking room inside their premises and smoking outside that room is prohibited. Bars that don’t have a smoking room allow their customers to smoke inside the bar itself.
  • Bars also serve non-alcoholic beverages such as milkshakes, mocktails and soft drinks. Bars also serve other items such as Hookah.
  • Bars serve both veg and non veg beverages.
  • A restaurant bar is restaurant that serves both- full course meals and alcohol.
  • A bar charges a person on the food he eats and the drinks he consumes. The bill is then levied with many taxes (around 20% in Delhi).
